The application cycle for January 2019 admission is now open. Program Accreditation The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the Indiana State University Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Indiana State University. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards. Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be September 2023.
The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation Standards and ARC-PA policy. Who should become a Physician Assistant? We are looking for caring, compassionate individuals who want to serve their communities as primary care providers as part of a Physician / PA team. Indiana State’s PA program is designed with evidence-based medicine and culturally sensitive provision of care as guiding principles. We intend to attract and retain a diverse student body.
Although prior health care experience is preferred, it is not a requirement of admission. Careers Physician Assistants practice in private practice, hospitals, community health centers, subspecialty practices, Veterans Administration, and all branches of the military. Practice in a cost-effective and socially responsible manner, applying the principles of evidence-based medicine and critical thinking in clinical decision making. - 96% of graduating students agreed or strongly agreed that the Program prepared them to know how to apply principles of evidence-based medicine and critical thinking in clinical decision-making. - 85% of graduating students agreed or strongly agreed that the Program prepared them to practice in a cost-effective and socially responsible manner. In addition, students participate in and have access to: - Problem and team based learning exercises with faculty and other health providers - Accountable Care Organization visits in long term health care facilities - A Research Symposium at the end of their clinical year, with presentations of a research project that has spanned the duration of their time in the program.
