IMO All Itunes have done is boost the volume of the original Cd's, you will probally find also IMO that the original Cd's are only there source, don't be fool and ripped off with them and the crazy prizes they are charging when you can do better results by buying the original Cd's for a couple of dollars? I a/b'ed the two, and there is definitely a volume boost applied; possibly it was some light limiting, as the loudest parts are the same (audible) volume in both. I also ran the files through foobar's dynamic range meter component, and the songs were very similar, and varied by about 1 or 2 numbers.

The original CDs had better dynamics, naturally. SO there you have it. There isn't a huge revelation or improvement AT ALL. Run normalization or a limiter plugin over your original CDs and you will have the same thing. I wouldn't recommend anyone who owns the CDs to buy it. It's truly not worth it.
