Ok a few days ago I went to Blackpool Air Rifles to buy a new hunting gun and after trying many I went for the Falcon Prairie Bm Profile. This particular gun is the carbine version. As I say, I've only had the gun a few days but I have got to know it quite well so I thought I would do a short review based on my initial thoughts.

The first and most obvious impression is that it looks fantastic. The Minelli walnut stock is to their usual high standard and the design they chose for this gun is in my opinion simply beautiful. The profiled butt helps to keep weight to a minimum as does the slender fore end. It was Falcon's design remit from the beginning to produce a lightweight sporting hunter and at only 5lb they certainly achieved that with the Prairie.

The 'B' in Prairie Bm stands for bull barrel and this gun has a full length bull barrel with built in expansion chamber to act as a first stage moderator. The end of the barrel is also threaded to 1/2 unf to accept a secondary moderator. Now believe me, even with the bull barrel, this is NOT a quiet gun so a second moderator will be a must if you plan to hunt. I fitted mine with a Weirhrauch moderator which works very well in conjunction with the bull barrel. Still it's not the quietest gun I've ever heard but it's well within report levels needed for a hunter. The 'm' stands for mwaaaarrrrr. Actually I don't what it stands for so we'll skip that bit.

My particular prairie is the multi shot version and came with 2x 8 shot mags. The mags load easily and so far have cycled faultlessly every time. One thing I will point out is, unlike most multi shot guns the cycling takes place.. 'M' = multi shot derrrr, god I'm so thick sometimes.

Oh yeah, the cycling takes place on the return stroke of the bolt, in other words you pull the bolt back to cock the action then on the return, the mag cycles to the next pellet as the probe pushes it into the breach. All this means is that you need a positive push of the bolt to load their next pellet. This will not please everyone but I found this very reassuring, you know another pellet is being loaded. If you have ever fired a bolt action rim fire rifle it feels very similar and strangely it sounds similar too. I love this personally. The trigger is fully adjustable and at the side of the trigger is the resettable safety catch. The trigger blade itself is the only real gripe with this gun, it has not been shaped in any way and is a little uncomfortable, that said after market triggers are available. Installer User Interface Mode Not Supported Ubuntu.

The air cylinder is pressurised to a max pressure of 200 bar and on the end is a very tidy pressure gage which has proven to be remarkably accurate. You fill by use of a push in probe just below the gage.

Filling is easy and very quick. Up to now I haven't been able to do a shot string for consistency or a realistic shot count, however, other reviews I have found on the internet put the usable shot count at 80 in.177 but also report that the power curve is very flat for an unregulated gun.

Sounds encouraging but I will wait and see. Overall the build quality is great as is the finish. One strange thing though, the barrel and action are powder coated meaning they are weather proof which is great for a hunter but the air cylinder has been blued??? Why they didn't powder coat the cylinder as well (like Daystate do) is beyond me. Shooting the gun is a dream, it really is.

It's smooth and steady. I've only shot it to a range of 25yards up to now, but once zeroed the pellets were all hitting the same hole, this was from a bench rest of course but does indicate that out to 40 - 45 yards I should be getting the magic 1' groupings. I was using H&N Trophy Targets.
